Chair’s Update on COVID-19 impact on the Brook House Inquiry

In view of the Government’s guidelines regarding the avoidance of public gatherings and travelling into London, I have regretfully decided not to hold a public opening hearing for the Brook House Inquiry. I do not want to risk the health and wellbeing of those who would want to attend the hearing, including potential Core Participants, witnesses and their legal representatives and all other interested parties.

I am sorry that it has been necessary to take this step and that I am currently unable to meet interested parties face to face. I will of course be giving careful consideration, in line with developing Government advice, as to when the first Inquiry public hearings can take place.

In the meantime, I will be recording a broadcast of my opening statement, which will shortly be available on the Inquiry’s website. In addition, the Inquiry team can be contacted via the website at enquiries@brookhouseinquiry.org.uk, on our freephone number 0800 181 4363 or via our FREEPOST BROOK HOUSE INQUIRY address.

Please note that due to the impact of COVID-19, there will be a delay in the Inquiry team receiving mail. In addition, all calls using the freephone number will be directed to voicemail, which may result in a delayed response. I will provide a further update when these restrictions are lifted.
